I got to chapter 7 without any issues but it now appears you are using a different version of Xcode. I don't have a plus sign as shown in figure 7.12. How am I suppose to add these frameworks? My version is Xcode 9.01

That's interesting. I checked versions 9 and 9.1 and they both contain the plus sign.  I'm not sure why you're not seeing it. Try closing and reopening Xcode and see if that helps.
